These 15 paintings were part of a joint show with sculptor John Allen called ‘Present in absence’ at Turua Gallery, Auckland in August 22
Each painting is built up over time by layering forms, brushstrokes, blocks of transparent and opaque colour, one step informing the next. Although the earlier layers are ‘lost’ and visually absent, their presence is still felt through the final artwork -in both the depth of texture and colour and the richness of the story told.
